I love this multi-tool. I have a SOG, Gerber, and others. This is hands down the best multi tool I have ever bought.

Stainless steel. I have had this over a year and have not had to sharpen it yet, however I carry another knife that I use often.

This knife opens smoothly, as you open it you realize what a great job they did designing this knife. The tolerances, the action, and location of implements. Its an engineering masterpiece. I use the pliers all the time. Same with the screwdriver and what a great idea having a reversible bit, love it. I could go on and on about this knife. I am currently about to buy another wave only black this time. If your only going to own one knife, here you go.

Comments:

The Bob Terzoula Slipit represents several new directions for Spyderco. First, it is a non-locking slipjoint knife. Second, it is made in Taiwan. Given the current status of knife restriction in both the US and other nations, Spyderco has made a concerted effort to develop slipjoint knives for its customers. In this knife, there is no traditional slipjoint system. Instead a series of small ball bearings and holes in the blade provide some resistance on opening and closing, much like half-stops. A deep finger choil has been added to prevent accidental closure, with the ball bearings providing even more protection. In all the system works quite well. In all but the most difficult cutting this knife should work just fine. Tha blade is made of CPMS30V and the scales are carbon fiber. My sole gripe is the lanyard attached to the production knife. The attachment to the knife causes a hotspot in my hand when used for some time. I remedied this by removing the lanyard entirely and have a wonderful knife. Without the lanyard, this knife is a 10 out of 10.

This knife is an excellent value knife. I got it in a raffle for $5, but at a price point of around $35 it is a lot of knife for the value.

I'll start with the negatives before I get to the positives.

-The blade isn't centered when shut. It doesn't affect the function but some people don'tlike it

-The lanyard hole is kind of small

-The handles are polymide which is just the basic frn/zytel/plastic.

-The striations on the blade can rub a little on draw cuts.

-The bead blasted finish is prone to rust

Now onto the positives.

-The 14c28n steel is a nice steel. It takes a razor edge, is super easy to sharpen and has pretty good edge retention.

-The one I got is orange which is a very cool color, and even though it is polymide, the way it's textured it feels closer to g10.

-While the striations are not good for draw cuts, on push cuts it just slices like no ones business.

-The flipper is lightning fast and the detent is strong enough that I've never had it fail, except when I was trying to flip it as lightly as possible to purposely make it fail.

-It looks up super solid with almost not blade play.

Overall I rate this knife with excellent value. Obviously for only $35 there are going to be some flaws but they are minor. In my opinion you will have a hard time finding a better knife for the value and I would recommend it to anyone

I have the sage II so these opinions do not reflect in any way the CF sage I as I have no experience with it.

When I saw that spyderco was making a Ti RIL knife I knew it was going to be a winner and that I had to have one. Sure enough when I got it I was super impressed. The fit and finish are perfect and the pivot and lock are both the smoothest I have come across. The only problem is that it seems a little heavy but what do you expect with dual Ti sides. Overall a custom quality piece at production prices.

I have been carrying an AUS-8 FRN SE dragonfly IWB for a few years now and I feel naked without this little gem. I use it primarily for tasks that I would not use one of my more expensive knives on or if people ask to borrow a knife they most likely get this one. The edge is chipped and the lock is developing some play but this little monster has stood up to everything I have thrown at it. This should be an even better performer now that they have upgraded all of them to VG-10

When I first held this knife at a local store I fell in love. The handle fits in your hand perfectly and the angle on the blade puts the edge right where you want it. Sadly this knife is being discontinued so it will be harder to find now but if you can it is definitely worth it. Dont be bothered by the strange look of the knife once you hold it you will understand.

The spyderco sage is an outstanding knife. The quality is top notch from spyderco and don't worry about it being made in Taiwan, it is equal to or a step above the seki city made spydercos. The carbon fiber handles are outstanding they provide excellent traction. The liners are skelentonized for reduced weight. the blade is full flat ground in S30V Steel. they can be had for a great value right now if you hunt around. One of spydercos best designs

It took me a little time to decide on buying the Sage 1 as I really like purchasing knives made in the USA. I knew however that Spyderco was not putting together any slouches with this series.

The Sage has been reviewed a lot in the communities so I won't go into great detail but just hit some key points.

-Fit & Finish is spectacular throughout

-Carbon Fiber scales are textured and gorgeous

-Blade is great design and came sharp as heck!

-Ergos are very good in hand

-Liner lock is solid as a rock

It's an overall great knife and I look forward to trying more in the series!

This knife is tiny, when I got it in the mail and opened the package, I couldn't stop laughing because it was so small. I knew it would be small but wasn't expecting the size.

The knife came relatively sharp, not able to shave arm hair but it can slice paper with ease. The blade snaps out with a nice click. Build quality is great, no flaws at all. Love the little Spyder logo on the handle. Overall its a great little keychain knife that can handle most light tasks you throw at it.

I bought a kershaw leek with the composite blade as a blemish so it was expected that there would be a flaw. The only flaw I found was that the tip was slightly bent, I fixed that by sharpening it a few times.

This knife came very sharp and it is super comfy to use. Also, the composite blade looks cool! Build quality is great, phosphor bronze washers, assisted opening, speed safe, all made very well. Plus it's made in the USA!

Overall,I would buy this knife again.

Resistance to wear is mediocre at best. Being made of 8CR13MO, the steel rolls at magnesium(Flint blocks). The edge holding ability is embarrassing, but it's one of the downsides for buying a cheap folding knife, look into Byrd knives for similar yet less expensive knives made of this steel.

One of the biggest flaws is the design, it's a Liner-lock model and has no under choil. That makes for one dangerous knife, simply try closing it and you will find there is nothing to stop the knife from closing upon your thumb, easy cuts may come while closing your Tenacious.

The G-10 material that this knife uses is notably and outstandingly different from the more prestigious Military, Police models. The G-10 is less grippy(Something that G-10 is supposed to do) and the screws are absurdly easy to destroy.

All in all, I would pick something else to buy for $30. 8CR13MO steel can be found on knives costing $15, part of the reason why this knife is priced out of it's abilities.

I would simply pay more for a knife, nothing wrong with Spdyderco but this knife belongs in the Byrd line. Look into the Native, cheap but with a great steel blade.

I agree,,, 8cr13 is not a bad steel at all.... albieght its not going to perform like cpmS30V,, or 154cm, VG10 etc,,,, but its not S100 either... honestly most people simply dont need nor can appreciate a super steel in the first place... what are you TRULY going to use your edc for anyway; opening boxes, cutting cord, etc.... If you truly do HARD use your knives such as farm or military style use (youll probably use a fixed blade anyway) you are most likely in a position to apprecuate and possibly need the performance a supersteel provides,, in which case you can justify spending $150 on your edc... but for most of us non farming civilians 8cr13 is MORE than adequate blade steel........ ooh yeah,,, I agree,, Mr Negativity most surely either a, never owned a Tenacious or b, knows nothing about knives,,,, more likely both....... (a bushing falling out....... rubbish....!!!!)

I've personally had no issues with this steel..it seems like I deploy my knife every 5 minutes to cut either plastic or cardboard as well as many many other random tasks throughout the day and it holds an edge just fine. The good thing about this steel is that you can have it shaving sharp again very very quickly. We're talking a matter of seconds if you actually know how to sharpen a knife. Moreover, $30 might be the limit for some folks..personally I'm not about to spend big bucks on a knife that gets used and beat around all day every day. I'm going to look for a cheaper knife that can take abuse and is easy to sharpen. You'd be hard pressed to out do the tenacious in those areas IMO. Don't take my word for it but I don't know many people who put their knives through the type of use mine sees every single day and the tenacious has done it all and held up outstandingly well. For 99% of the population this is going to be more than enough knife for EDC. I might pick something different for combat or shtf but even then the tenacious could hold its own with proper maintenance
