This is a very well made knife from Kershaw. It both rivals and exceeds more expensive knives. I have a few Spyderco Chinese made knives of the same materials, but the Kershaw is half the price and the finish makes the Spydercos look bad. They have rough edges and are not as nicely finished in comparison. I have looked at many knives in this price range. I have yet to find one that meets it much less exceeds it somehow. I really like the old school tab for use for opening. It just as easy to use anything I've run across. It's stood up to everyday use very well. It takes and holds a very sharp edge. As sharp as just about any type of steel but won't hold it as long. It easily equals Aus8A. Which like 8A is easily maintained. I also noticed no staining at all even with heavy usage. If you're looking for an inexpensive EDC, try this one. I'd recommend it to anyone.

This was my very first high quality blade that I ever bought and has been with me for a long time and is very reliable. It started the my obsession with blades and started my youtube channel.
GOOD- good price, blade design, 154CM steel holds a great edge, one of the better nylon sheaths around, and ergonomic handle.
BAD- ???

Tactical Elegance in this SOG EDC blade.
GOOD- AUS-8 steel, open assist, deep ride pocket clip, finger flipper, good traction for stabbing and cutting.
BAD- lockback is ok but not my favorite, heavier then most of SOG's other blades.

Kershaw is my favorate company for cheap high value blades that have overall good quality for the price.
GOOD- handle is very ergonomic, deep pocket clip, open assist, good jimping.
BAD- I am not a fan of TANTO design, budget steel, thicker handle.

Being a female, my biggest issues with purchasing a knife were blade size, thickness, and being able to handle the tool. The 707 is super slim, fitting perfectly in my pocket or boot without requiring me to pry open the belt clip.

The size is perfect for someone with smaller hands, which makes the knife easy to open and close single handed.

While I've heard many debates on the thumb "stud" verses thumb "hole," I found as a first time knife owner I prefer the thumb stud until I became proficient with the knife's operation.

The only issue I've discovered is the tension screw was loose to begin with and still requires adjustment more frequently than it should; however, this does not impede my use of the knife.

I'd definitely buy it again.

I got this knife as a gift, so this review is by no way influenced on what I paid for it. This is not a utility knife. The up swept point is very limited for everyday use and because the clip is non adjustable, the point faces down while putting it in you pocket. The grip screws (very small torx) worked loose causing the blade to swing out just enough to raise the point out of the liner causing me to stab my thigh. The grip screws are constantly doing this. I would not recommend this as a carry knife.

One of the most useful blade designs I've owned. That said, the knife is not without problems. The steel used is brittle. Very brittle. I used this knife for daily carry and snapped the tip off the blade twice cutting zip ties. The edge was also prone to chipping. The shape of the blade is ideal for every day use, and the overall ergonomics are excellent. It fits in the pocket great and it's weight is all but unnoticeable. My only complaint is the steel the blade is made with...but for a knife, that's a HUGE complaint.

The Ontario RTAK II has been around for a while and has a reputation as being tough and reliable giving it almost legendary status in the blade community. Well, its all true!
GOOD- price at under $100, functional nylon sheath, heavy making chopping easy, thick spine for batoning, finger choil makes cutting and carving easy.
BAD- the handle is big and thick, the fit and finish is not always stellar.

The EDC version of the Recon 1!! I love carrying this blade!!
GOOD- strong triad lockback, very slim handle so it doesn't take up too much space in pocket, feels perfect in your hand, multiple blade design options.
BAD- the same beef I have with all of Cold Steel's pocket knives, for the same price I can get VG-10 steel on a Spyderco instead of AUS-8A. Cold Steel's knives will always have stronger lockups though.

I always prefer stronger lock instead better steel for folders. Folder with damage lock or with blade play is piece of shit! The edge in most cases can be resharpen very quickly

This is one of Gerber Knives better quality made knives.
GOOD- great tanto design, fast open assist, G-10 handles have lots of traction, USA made, tough blade.
BAD- paying $85 for the 420HC model when the s30v model is $20 more, the traction on the thumb studs and handle is too aggressive for EDC use, this blade is made for military and law enforcement and to be used with gloves.

One of the cheapest s30v steel blades around.
GOOD- s30v steel at $70 is unheard of, stronger tip then the original blur, open assist, thumb studs are very ergonomic, and an ergonomic handle.
BAD- there is not enough traction for stabbing, the pocket clip rides higher then I would like.

Extremely tough tactical/survival knife.
GOOD- price is less then RAT knives of similar size, extremely tough 1095HC, great bowie designed blade for tactical use, sheath that holds the knife well, thinner and lighter weight then the original RD6 making easier to use and cut with.
BAD- the ergonomics are not the best, the handle is thick, wide, and almost too short for my LARGE size hands. Other then that very well designed blade.
