So this is a near perfect knife. Despite its Chinese build location, the knife has excellent fit and finish, and feels strong. The design is the knife's strongest asset, for a 2.25 inch blade, the handle is built to allow for all 4 fingers to make it on there. The thumb ramp is steep and well jumped, and the blade shape is fantastic with a good bit of belly. The knife has nice steel liners with G10 over top, no complaints there, although the knife is pretty heavy for its size, but it does feel extremely durable, which is rare in such a small knife. you can put the clip however you want and it has a nice lanyard hole. Phosphor bronze bushings as well for a smooth open. All perfection, especially at the $30-$35 price point. My big and only complaint is the blade steel. 8cr13mov is not a high quality steel, I find it to dull easily (although it does sharpen easily), and its not super rust resistant. I wish they would keep the scales, handle, design, blade shape, everything else the same, and just raise the steel quality to a 154cm or VG-10. I would pay the extra $10 bucks for the quality blade, and that would make this thing a dream. Regardless, its an excellent EDC knife, very sheeple friendly. I do not reccomend this for combat usage, its very small and does not have a tactical blade shape whatsoever. Although it'd still be better than nothing, if you want something tactical go pick up a Cold Steel recon or something along those lines. Just my 2 cents on this ambitious little knife!

Can't beat it for the price. Very ergonomic. The material of the handle
Is a little slick but overall it's a great knife. Very rigid when open. If they made a more expensive version of this knife I'd buy not in a second! Get one while
You can.

This knife was USELESS! As a collector who has owned over 300 knives, this "assisted opening" knife was the hardest to open of any knife I have ever had. The plastic handles feel cheap. I used to be a major fan of all SOG products, but this turned into an absolute DEBACLE! I have spent over 31 days trying to return the knife, and STILL have not gotten my money back; I have been lied to; stalled; and, had a ludicrous amount of time and energy wasted to no purpose whatsoever.

I got two Kershaw Leeks for the price of this knife, they are silky smooth; open smoothly and quickly; have steel handles; and, Kershaw is easy to deal with, prompt, and HONEST!

This is a decent knife for the money. The overall knife is awesome.Where they dropped the ball was on the scales. The rubber coating comes off very easily, could have been a 10 with g10 or micarta.

Benchmade 15010 Large Fixed w Gut Hook

-Price Paid: $110.00
-Used for Outdoor/Survival
-Owned for Greater than 1 year

Comments:

I purchased this knife after doing extensive research and pro/ cons sheets agains the Cold Steel Master Hunter w/ Gut hook. Went with the Benchmade because there is a just a better overall feel of quality when they are looked at side by side. I have used this knife for just about everything it was not intended for. Its a hunters companion knife, and I have used it as an edc knife, as a work knife, invasive species removal aid, wood splitter, paint chipper, meat cleaver (albeit a small one), wood carving knife and many many many other things. This knife has done more than hold up, it has yet to become dull!!!! After two years without sharpening the D2 blade is still shaving sharp after taking a nearly literal ton of abuse. It is absolutely a beautifully made knife, of excellent quality. The only reason I saw to give less than a 10 on ergonomics is because the knife is just a little thin, not enough to cause grip loss, but enough to cause hand fatigue when used in place of a thicker handled knife. I will never ever regret this blade, and try as I have I cannot break, bend, nic, or dull this knife. Well done Benchmade

Forget how much i paid, i think $120. This is has been my EDC knife for over a year, with the exception of overseas trips which I bring along a less expensive gerber. The build quality, feel and blade strength and edge holding are all incredible. I am no knife snob nor really know a lot about metals and metallurgy. I put a nice sharp edge on this thing and go about my life. The blade needs a touch up every month or 2. I am really rough on knives, abusive to some. I basically see them as tools to be used and use i do. I work construction and use it daily on boxes and misc other items. I dont keep in my tool pouch but rather my pocket so i have a blade when my utility knife is near. I open beers with the handle and am stunned by how well the material has held up. The clip is stiff and it deploys in an instant. The spring assist is solid and the over feel is truly top notch, I know this is not a technical review, just a guy and his opinion but i would highly recommend and when the time comes i will buy another one! Cheers - Fish

Best knife I've owned so far. I carry it everywhere! I use it mainly cutting rope while working with my horses and haven't had to sharpen it in about 8 months. Awesome knife, i highly reccomend it if you plan on using it every day.

I must admit that before I got it in my hands I was skeptical. But when I received it...wow!! This is a beautifully built, amazingly smooth and ergonomic gem of a folding knife. It shines when performing so many daily tasks, especially food prep. I am mesmerized opening and closing this elegant knife...smoooooth! What a great tool and what a charming piece. Love it!!

I own hundreds of knives, including many custom blades, but I must say the Mick Strider builds a knife that commands my admiration. I come back to it time and time again and am amazed that it is such a terrific, stout design. It has been my most carried knife over the years and is virtually unchanged from the day I first handled it. Amazing!

A stout, well designed extraordinarily ergonomic flipper that has taken over leadership of my extensive knife collection. I don't know what it is about this beast, it just seems to belong in my hand. Mine is a generation 3 and should be a safe queen, but it demands to be used. The only funny thing about it is that it does not have the greatest detent in the world, but it has never been a problem. There is no better knife maker in the world than Rick Hinderer.
