Great knife with exceptional value built in the USA. I have both the black blade (DLC coating) and the frosted or stone washed blade model. The ergonomics are exceptional and with the high grade G10 scales you get a firm purchase on the knife without to much abrasion to skin. The knife comes with the Kershaw proprietary balde assist techonology which is great. You can use the knife blade studs or the flipper which is a breeze and the knife literally springs to life and the blade comes siwftly out and locks up very tight with NO blade movement up or down or sideways. The sound it makes on opening is saisfying as the liner lock engages the blade locking it open. The knife weighs as I recall about 4.4 ounces so EDC is not bad at all. The only negative is the somewhat goofy looking and small pocket and fragile looking pocket clip. Overall an exceptional value for the money and on par with knives that are priced in the $100 to $120 range. Love this fairly new Kershaw TG1 TURBULENCE!

The sheath alone looks like its worth $25. Great blade shape, comfortable handle, useful lanyard hole, sharpens easily, holds the edge very well. If you don't care how your hard use knife looks, or that its made in El Salvador, then this is the knife for you. Did I mention that its very durable? I don't think I will ever break it.

While searching for the perfect edc knife for my needs i purchased a bm 940, spyderco pm2, kershaw ram, sog aegis drop point, and tanto and a sog trident clippoint..i wanted something light but still be good for self defense and other light tasks...i thought the 940 was perfect but the knife blade seems a bit small for sell defense... the pm2 is a great knife but to heavy to carry around all day long plus it sticks out of the pocket a bit...i really like the kershaw ram for the price but it to is about the same weight as the pm2...so next i tried the aegis...almost the same low weight as the 940 but its blade is bigger and better suited for self-defense plus the pocket clip is the best of all these knives imo it sits so low in the pocket you can not see a knife sticking out...aus 8 is alot easier to bring back to shaving sharp than s30v. So if you want a big knife the carries light and disappears in your pocket this is a great choice. And some say it is hard to get out of the pocket, but all you need to do is grab the clip on the outside and just pull up comes right out..i did not like the tanto version as much as the drop point..as for the trident it is a nice knife got one off of ebay for 35 bucks but it is about the same weight as the ram and pm2...so if i'm going to be out all day long i'll opt for the sog aegeis...if i'm just running to the store at night i'll grab the pm2...hope this helps you make up your mind

I have owned the para-mili for over 5 years now, but have carried it as my regular EDC folder for several months now. Over the last couple of months I have EDC'd the following folders on a semi-rotational basis: Lonewolf T3, Benchmade M4 Lum Tanto, Benchmade Lum Onslaught, Spydie Dodo, Spydie Matriarch, Spydie Merlin, etc. After I had the para-mili reprofiled by one of the guys at the local knifeshop, who sharpens everyones knives for about $10 a piece, I still was not happy with the edge so I took some 1000 grit paper to it and finished it off with about 30 minutes' work on some 1200 grit paper. Now that I'm finally happy with the edge, I've been EDCing the para-mili for some months now. Recently, at camp in the Lamietberg I butterflied a 14 pound fish with the knife. Splitting the fish head was tough going and it left 3 small chips on the edge, which I sorted out with my 1000 and 1200 grit paper. After all my purchasing of knife sharpening systems over the years which I have never been happy with, my go to for sharpening these days is a sheet of 1000 and 1200 grit paper with cost a dollar each. And they remain good for multiple tough ups and sharpenings. This paper has even restored my confidence in- and preference of S30V steel which I always struggled to keep sharp using conventional purpose made knife sharpewning systems. So with my newfound passion for free hand sharpening my knives on "sand paper" most of my folders' edges have taken on a convexed profile. And they all cut like the blazes. Combining the convex edge in CPM-S30V with the distel-like taper of the Spydie Para-Millies choiled ergonomics makes for one meam cutting machine. My para-millie has now truely broken into the self defense realm.

If you have owned this for 5 years it would be a Paramilitary, not a Paramilitary 2. Also the tip was one of the improvements of PM2

I own a lot of Spydercos -- over 100 and closer to 150 and the SuperHawk is one of my favorites.EVERYTHING about this knife is just on the money !!!It is a large WIDE knife but still capeable as a EDC. Starting with the handle , it is GREAT !! Have a texture to it that will be close to non-slip if your hands get wet or blood on them etc. --- and the shape works for those with small hands {me} as well as large "paws" -- its flared at the base and hooked at the bottom -- VERY doubtfull your hand will slip combined with the ruffer texture on it. Just a super well designed handle !!!The blade -- its a RIPPER !!! My came shaveing sharp and its large enough to reach a vital area on most humans , if need be. It is NOT as curved as most other Spydercos and you CAN get a good straight power thrust with it.It has the wire pocket clip that works well and carries the knife deeper in a pocket. Its very easy to open one handed but , for me , not as easy to close one handed unless I unlock it and use the back of the blade against my leg etc.My ONLY "complaint" is that it IS WIDE and takes up a bit of pocket space. It is a FINE EDC and a GREAT SD type knife that you can use for most any task and I give it a "thumbs up" !!!

Very nice! One of the best feeling knives you'll put in your hand. A little big for EDC but I do anyways. Best thing is that you have both a dagger and a good slicer. The crosshairs has a nice belly to it as well as a good sharp point. You get the best of two worlds

Comment by LARRY HAAS   11/22/2014
Just got one. Not quality at all. The handle by thumb ramp have a gap both sides. The attachment on the sheath belongs on a G I Joe set. FAIL! A lot better knives then this tank.

Had this for a year now. Great knife. A bit heavy, but razor sharp, and awesome geometry. Really a fighting knife - and would be hard to beat if you needed to open up a two legged varmit. But could also be used for hunting/survival in a pinch.

I have this knife and I like it a lot. It is very solid feeling in the hand and it is razor sharp.

I own both the A1 and A2. Had a black kydex, small of back sheath made up as the plastic sheath the A1 came in is absolutely terrible, impractical and ugly as hell. Carried the A1 every year into my annual 2 week stints in the African mountains. Have used it to do everything from felling 10" trees (the A1 will fell a 5-6" tree in under 2 minutes), gut and clean large fish, split firewood, wittle sticks for marshmallows, killed a babboon and carved a very, very rough stickman for my 7 year old. The edge retention is superb, and has not chipped at all. My Spyderco paramilitary showed 3 chips after gutting and splitting the head of a large 8 pound fish - sorted it out with 1200 grit paper. The laminate steel is tough, sharp and versatile but the kraton / thermoplsstic handle detracts from thew overall finish of the knife. The small of back, horizontal, kydex sheath allows me to carry this knife is areas and situations where I need a substantial fixed blade. My A2 on the other hand is exclusively used for camping and survival.

Got my desert tan, gunner grip NSN DBL second hand from a contractor who got it out of a store in Afghanistan. Had a kydex sheath made up in desert tan and have EDC'd the DBL in cross draw and small of back for several months now. The DBL is perfect for EDC along with a decent folder for situations where a larger fixed blade would draw unwanted attention.

i have the orange sprint run edition and i love it. the knife is a little on the larger size for a folding pocket knife ( which is a big plus with me). the steel is great and take an edge nicely and holds it even better. i got mine shaving sharp in the matter of a few minutes on a leather strop. the hand is nice and thin and light. the titanium lock is awesome and has yet to fail me. the only reason i didn't give this knife a 10 in the overall is because i felt that it could have used a little more jimping. overall it is a great EDC knife and one of my favorites. i'm very glad i got one and i don't see myself selling mine any time soon.

I have used my Emerson commander for something like 8 years give or take. I think the "wave" is the greatest thing ever. A lot of people like the assisted knives out there.. and that's fine for those people. However in the span I've owned my knife I have become absolutely confident in this knife.. I can deploy it faster than anyone I've ever personally seen deploy a knife.. period. I imagine that would be worth any and everything in a defensive situation. The wave clip does make it difficult to take out of my pocket without partially opening but that's rather irrelevant to me since its my knife and I have learned how to handle knives. For some people I guess they need a course or two. The commanders carry is very nice to me being that its slender enough yet has a nice weight to know that its there. The size of it is a large folder but not bulky. The clip on it is very stout and has been so since I've owned it. I have no idea what one would have to do to mess this clip up without abuse. Also the length of the clip is nearly ideal. The handle ergonomics are excellent for my hand size. It's become preference over all my benchmades, zt, tops, and spydercos. For me its like a custom 1911 knife.. there's just an uncanny balance and fit for me that I don't get with most others. The g 10 scales are still great to this day. Some guy complained about the liner being thin, which I disagree with. It's titanium folks.. its light its strong has never failed me and its fairly an easy press to move the liner like a nice light trigger. I guess I kind of feel slightly bad for anyone who gets a counterfeit one. It's a shame you spent almost the amount of money I did and get a piece of junk. With that being said I think that when making a purchase like that demands a little research and follow the advice of Emerson's web site. Buy from reputable sources and make sure the piece is in stock. I want to get a police sark and a cqc 15 but it seems with Emerson that Ernest makes what Ernest wants. So when you do see the knife available out there.. you better just suck it up and deal with the price. They are not very easy to get on most sites for whatever reason/reasons. The price is the biggest setback for Emerson's in general to me, and that the linen micarta version is stupid expensive. Those things are just bad a$$ lookin. At the end of the day the commander is a proven knive. People wouldn't be paying 130 bucks for a fake one if the blade wasn't a spectacular piece of equipment to begin with. If you are in to knives, especially tactical folders I would definitely recommend buying at least one Emerson. You only live once.. the money spent you likely won't remember, but the knife itself you will remember forever

This is a very nice, lightweight knife with a combination of titanium and G10 for the handles. Blade comes very sharp and retains and edge very well. It is extremely light weight, with the handles held together by only four spacer posts instead of being solid. While that may seem cheap at first, it's actually really sturdy and helps keep the weight down. It does, however, mean that pocket lint will get on the blade. Overall, it's a decent knife for everyday use. However, there are some drawbacks. The clip only allows for tip down, blade to the front (when in your right pocket) carry, so you can't make it open automatically when removed from your pocket. I ordered the partially serrated version and was shocked to find that the serrations were really poorly done. There was lots of metal left over that should have been removed. It did chip away really easily, but still, not something I expect on a rather pricey knife. It shows a lack of attention to detail.Nonetheless, if you don't care about tip up carry and want something that is very light weight with a high quality blade that stays sharp, this knife is hard to beat.
