I was excited to receive my first pm2 because of all of the great things I have heard about them. When I received it in the mail I was disappointed. The centering was way off and there was tons of blade play. Spyderco said they would fix those problems. $15.00 and 2 months late spyderco had sent it back with nothing done to it. I managed to mke some improvements myself but there is still significant blade play.. Overall the pm2 is pretty good but no where near my fav EDC. And as for the spyderco customer service... Well they are incompetent.Helle Skala

I have to say I'm from Italy so you understand the price of the knife and my incorrect English.This is a cocobolo handle version of the more famous Dokka (birch handle).
The handle is the best part of this knife, it is thick, and very comfortable also with hard use of the knife. The back lock is solid and has a progressive functioning. Is for two hand use, is mainly for outdoors, hunting...
It is a modern alternative of Buck 110, maybe less "strong" and certainly less mythic, but lighter (131 g vs 250 rounded) and, in my opinion, more comfortable. If you're looking for a Scandinavian pocket knife, probably this one is best for intensive use.

I was not expecting much from the Mil-Spie 3.5, in photos it looks fat and beefy, but this knife is anything but that. It is lightweight at 4.2oz, and is very ergonomic in your hand. The blade material and design are perfect for military/law enforcement or wilderness use. The Mil-Spie 3.5 is a great knife and a big surprise for me.Shadow Tech Knives Hiker

The Hiker from Shadow Tech Knives is a workhorse for being so small. It felt really good in my hand and slice through everything surprisingly well for being 3/16th of an inch thick! For the money I paid of $47 it is a great option for a neck knife.Opinel No 8

Sorry about my incorrect English.This knife as some pluses compared with the standard version (wood handle):
- thick partially serrated blade (inox)
- 4mm-10mm shackle key
- 110 decibel survival whistle
- plastic handle
The wood handle could swell (when wet) and you can't open the knife, so this is the reason why this version has the plastic handle (also a better grip).
The locking mechanism is the virobloc: it is locking collar that fixed the blade when turned. You need both hands to open and to lock the blade. The mechanism could lock the knife also when it is closed.
This is a good knife that is more useful and practical compared to the standard wood version but less fascinating (and historic).

The Timberjack is a great option if you are looking for a mora substitute. It is about $4 dollars more, but it has a lot to offer. For under $20 it is a great blade for camp/bushcraft tasks.

very nice review but this knife is cheaper than most moras where did you buy yours. I also would not a advise batoning with that knife as it is not made for it and will eventually fail it is made to be used like a knife not a axe.

150 words minimum!!?? I'll stop when I'm done.I own more than a few Case knives. The full size Trapper is my favorite model. I prefer stainless over their CV steel for a number of reasons. Mostly because I use my pocket knife to cut or peel food when I'm not in my kitchen. The oil one should use to maintain a CV blade is something I don't want on my food and the acids in most fruits and vegetables will immediately show their presence on a CV blade. Yes...I wash and sanitize my carry knife daily.
For perfect fit and finish, I challenge anyone to top a Case Trapper. There may be a few as good but you can't get any better than perfect.
The only time you might catch me without my Case Trapper would be in the shower or on a damn airplane.

Loved everything about it when I got it. Good build. Good ergonomics. Compression lock is strong and easy to manipulate. Best heat treat of S30V I have found: crazy sharp out of the box, holds an edge really well, resharpens by just alignining the edge with just a kitchen steel. But then on such a great knife, they put a shitty clip. I sprung the clip catching it on a door handle. No big deal, take it off and bend it back. Wrong! It is brittle and broke before I could get it back to position. Then Spyderco doesn't consider this to be a warranty issue and I have to buy a new clip. I don't abuse knives, but things happen. This is supposed to be a tough knife, but anything is only as strong as its weakest link. A crappy clip on a great knife. Shame. Shame. Shame.Schrade Old Timer Woodsman

The one I own is about 30 years old. The American made, carbon steel model.Wonderful knife, a little heavy, but that is what I wanted in an out door knife.
Lots of wear and tear and never a problem.
It has been replaced by a Buck 119, only because I can not replace it and do not want to loose it.

I have to say I'm from Italy so you could understand the high price and my incorrect English.Ok, this knife has become a real classic.
I have the one with leather sheath (nice).
I have several victorinox multitools and I wanted to try this one (not so common in Europe).
Pro: the overall quality is great, you can lock every tool, and many of them you can open/close with one hand
Con: the knife is really heavy (about 250 g), it is a tank, about 2 and a half times the victorinox huntsman...
I can recommend this knife, but if I have to travel probably I'll put in my bag and carry a lighter victorinox...
