I was given this knife for Christmas and absolutely love it!!!!!Being a quarter inch thick it splits wood great but not as good as the cold steel recon scout. It chops excellently(three inch saplings in two chops)and is my bug out knife.

Its a hunter type lockback knife similar to the Buck 110. Metal used on blade is 8cr13mov. Its made in china it also comes with a leather sheath it has a nice fit on the knife. It has wood scale inserts and stainless bolsters. I paid $14.99 at cabelas they had them on clearence and for that price is a steal.

I have the pleasure to exchange emails with James Williams himself and for those in urban area, who needs an extreme light and practical knife, CRKT HEIHO (mine is 1st gen called HISSATSU II) is the choice. As James Williams told me, it is a gentlemen knife. But a knife is a knife, and as a knife, it serves to a large range of utilities. To me, self defense is the use. Here in Brazil, there is no laws to avoid use and carry of any kind of blades. As I am sales manager and have trained knife fighting for more than five years, I have choose this knife because it fits well in business suit, and is fast like a lightining bolt to open, cuts like a laser and is small enough to conceal in any place.

This knife is a tactical advantage in defense situations because its traditional tanto blade (not american style) is a needle to stab and AUS-8 is one of the best cuting steels in this world.

So you can bet on this knife.

Curiosity: in its handle is possible to read BING FA (Law of War).

People have asked me what the best knife in the the world is. It's a stupid question, there are lots of great specialized knives to suit every purpose. If you do not need a specialized knife, but rather a general use camping, hunting, fishing, picnicing, bushcraft, whittling knife that could scare someone off in a pinch, then this is the best knife in the world. Non-aggresive trim design, great cutting power, great steel, grippy handle, convex grind. Just outstanding in every way. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar its hard to beat.

I have had this for about five years and it has been my main heavy bush knife hunting and camping in Midwest hardwood forest and Northern Boreal. It is well built and simple, and brutally strong. It hardly seems possible that you could break this knife. The A2 with the convex grind has amazing cutting power. I can literally run it right through a clean 2x4 at an angle across the grain. Outcuts my Falkniven S1. Sharpening is easy. A2 is great, but it stains, and they make it in other steels as well. Very thick blade, basically unbreakable, but not great for slicing an apple or filleting a fish, or fine tip work. If you mainly cut wood and dress large game, this knife is hard to beat. There are better knives for fine work and food prep.

excellent: feather light (advertised 3 oz.,( my scale showed 2.7)), excellent handle (traction, gimping, choil) and sharp and rust resistant - a little pricey

This reviewer is commenting on some other knife. Advertized 3 oz, actual weight 2.7 oz? A Manix 2 in CPM 154 weighs 5 ounces.

Ontario SP10 Marine Raider Bowie

I bought several of these in an auction (can't remember what I paid exactly), but they are beasts. I've given all away as gifts except one I've kept for myself. This knife is one of the best bangs for your buck in a US made big blade at street prices I've seen. It has tremendous chopping power, and interesting blade geometry overall (you might wish to refine or even reprofile the edge)and is tough as nails!
As a thrower it showed no signs of damage after repeated power throws from a good distance (I know this is not its intended purpose, but it sure was fun), with the tip showing no damage or blunting. Factory edge was rough but functional, and showed great edge-holding. Sheath is kind of low quality but so far has held up and serves its purpose. Rating I gave it is based on its street price.

I have been carrying this in my wallet for 3-4 years. I wore out the original wallet it came with and replaced it with a maxpedition. The old wallet was still functional but my son wanted it. However, the inside oocket from putting the knife in and out was showing wear. If you can still find these, grab it. Worth every penny.

The blade is pure titanium, non magnetic. It is very light and after constant cutting, still sharp. The comfort is, this knife is so politically correct and it's always there. I have used it more times than I care to count. I forget it until I need it. If I could find another one, I would buy it.

It's easy to hold, easy to use. It holds an edge and tough.

I have loved Leatherman since I was a boyscout, and have owned several since then. This knife drew my attention because of the size, at first I wasn't sure I was going to like having such a small multi-tool, but I quickly grew to love it! It is great for dressier occasions, because it is so small, however it really does pack a punch. I like also that it fits into the fifth pocket of your jeans, leaving plenty of room for a EDC single blade knife. I couldn't be happier with it's performance, and again Leatherman's overall quality and craftmanship.

This is one of the better knives in my hunting collection. Nice and solid, light and sturdy, it makes cleaning animals of any size a breeze. I have been a Gerber fan for some time, but this really cemented my appreciation for them. I have used this blade on everything from small quail, to large game, and everything in between. The blade is not just stainless steel, it is a higher quality stainless with a few other elements, so the cleaning and upkeep are a cinch. The blade also holds an edge for some time, despite not being a high carbon blade. I have successfully cleaned several animals before having to sharpen this knife. I love the feel, and the full tang of the knife, I can really put my weight behind it. Also down the line, if you would like to customize the handle, the grip comes off fairly easily.

Actually own 2 of these. Tanto blade is VG-10 san mai. Clip blade version is straight VG10. Had tanto for about 6 mo, loved it so much I had to get the clip version. Scales, liners, arc-lock, etc. are identical. To me the ergos are outstanding.
