I always wanted to get Spyderco Gayle Bradley because of the all good reviews but when I finally bought it, wow, what a surprise.Knife totaly blown me away, from fit and finish, steel quality M4,looks,weight,and finaly performance.Used it to cut anything, from paper to food prep.Easy maintenance just rinse in water, dry it well and I put a drop of mineral oil on blade, its perfect.Best knife for money out there could be easily better than lots of more expensive knives and custom ones.Excellent job Spyderco.

My first review will be my favorite Spyderco knife, The Gayle Bradley is alot of knife at a relatively low cost considering the materials used.

I have one gripe and ill post it right away, The liner lock is very hard to reach and operate. The right side liner and CF is the same height as the liner lock making very hard to get your thumb on the jimping.

Fit and finish is excellent, And i found the liners not to be so sharp as many have stated.

The M4 steel is hollow ground with a very high grind so it slices like a champ. The pivot needed loosened a bit when it arrived, But it didn't even need grease which i add to most of my new knives. Weight feels hearty and sturdy thanks to the steel liners.

I think the carbon fiber is peel ply since its nicely textured. Size is what id call a medium framed knife.

I do keep the blade with a coat of Tuff Glide dry lube to help resist corrosion since M4 has been known to be not as rust resistant as most stainless steels are.

I recently purchased a Spyderco Gayle Bradley folder. Upon opening the box, I first noticed the weight. This is a SOLID knife. The frame is composed of thick non skeletonized steel. I could drive nails through a 2x4 with this thing. The scales are a really sharp carbon fiber and offer a refined look to the rugged knife. Then I opened the blade. The hollow ground cpm M4 only has to look at what you intend to cut, and the intended subject slices cleanly in half. The feel in great in my hand. This is important to me in a knife because I have big hands. The only complaint I have in the knife is that the spyderhole is recessed behind the scales to prevent accidental opening. It makes it a little difficult to open. But it's like picking at a diamond. I would feel confidant chopping through a solid oak door with this knife. If you work for a living and you need a knife that will take abuse, this is a good buy. I'm pretty sure I'll lose this knife before I break it.

Solid, beautiful knife. The CPM-M4 steel would be overkill on a smaller , lighter knife. Can be carried tip up or down, lefty or righty. This has the strength of a fixed blade with the convenience and coolness of a folder. It would be a sin not to put this knife to some hard use. The only downside is that you may become as addicted to large folders as I have become thanks to this knife.

The Spyderco Gayle Bradley is a production knife that exceeds expectations in almost every arena.

Pros:

-CPM-M4 blade steel in a double hollow grind. High speed steel that is very wear resistant, stays sharp, and is easy to sharpen and maintain.

-Carbon Fiber scales that have a nice texture without feeling like sandpaper.

-Solid lock up with the liner lock

-Price is exceptional (appx $125-140USD)

-4 way carry pocket clip, Left or right hand friendly.

-Blade shape, modified drop point is very utilitarian and can handle 99% of tasks.

-Smooth, easy,a nd solid blade deployment.

Cons:

-Weight, full steel liners make this knife a bit on the heavier side. BUT, this can be seen as being a "solid knife".

-CPM-M4 is not a stainles steel, additional care must be taken to prevent rust and lessen patina.

-LIner lock, some have had bad experiences with a liner lock. This particular knife has what appears to be a frame lock covered by the carbon fiber. It locks up solid and there is no chance for disengagement of the knife during hard use.

Overall:

The knife is heavy, but it feels solid in the hand. Very comfortable ergonimics make this knife feel like a natural extension of the hand. The lock up is very solid, and there is no doubt that the lock is not prone to failure. This is a liner lock done right. The materials for the asking price is one of the best values around. Other companies offer the same materials in a flagship knife for over twice as much.
