The Becker BK16 for the price is one of the best companion/bushcraft knives around. The ergos are great, the steel is tough and very easy to sharpen, and the sheath is better then most on the market. With that said there are some draw backs with a cheep spray on black coating on the blade, the quality of nylon on the sheath is poor, and you don't have the best traction on the grivory handle scales. But for the price there is nothing that comes close. Check this knife out!

I like this knife very much. Blade is soft though and has developed small chips in the blade. Seems to sharpen very easy. Not a bad knife to carry everyday as a pocket knife.

Overall I'm not impressed with this knife at all. The build of the knife is grade A but that's the only thing that is good about it. The ergonomics are TERRIBLE and the steel is far from desirable. The 'fast' opening is a joke. The design is even more of a joke. If you keep it in your pocket lint gets in every nook and cranny because of all the holes in the handle. Also, it is designed for tip up carry and it the tip LOVES to get snagged and open up on you whenever it chooses.

The blade does come out of the box very sharp but the edge retention is something from a $10 bargain box. Open a couple of boxes and you have to resharpen it. It will, however, resharpen very easily and with all that resharpening you'll get your skills at using a whet stone. To me, that's the only way to sharpen a knife.

Why would you use a stiletto for box opening? Right tool for the right job.

I too watched videos and read reviews about this knife before I found a dealer that sold the knife. I don't remember where I first saw the knife but I can remember how impressed I was with the design. My first thought was that it was show and no go since that's the general implication for knives that look 'cool'. I knew nothing about the company at that time so I decided to check them and their knives out. After reading many reviews and watching several videos on the knife, I decided to buy from a dealer here in Louisiana. I could not be happier that I did! :)

First we'll talk about the sheath. It's made of ballistic nylon for heavy duty wear resistance, has 2 lanyard holes at the bottom and the top, and has to small pockets on it. It also has a nice molle system on the back of it. One of the pockets comes with a rescue whistle and the other is large enough for a sharpening stone though I'm sure that's not the only items you could think to put in those pockets.

The knife itself is SUPER heavy duty! It's 3/16" thick and 14 inches long! It is definitely built for heavy chopping and cutting and even has a small recurve close to the handle for precise shaving and/or cutting. Being made from 5160 spring steel it won't take a razor's edge but is more than sharp enough to shave the hair off your leg or arm. I will also say this though, a heavy chopper shouldn't have a razor's edge anyways.

The top of the knife has a set of saw teeth on the back but to be honest, I have found a need for that yet but I'm sure it'll be useful one day. :) The handle of the knife has a spiked tip at the bottom that is great if you need to mark rocks or break glass. It's also made of linen micarta which is VERY durable and won't slip when wet. On top of that it's got a dimple in it so you can use it for your bow drill.

Overall this is an amazing knife. I have not one bad thing to say about it but I will say it could have left off something. The 'back up' blade on the spine of the knife could have been left off. It doesn't hinder the knife at all but it serves no purpose. It's suppose to be a back up blade in case the functioning blade gets damaged but you can't put a good edge on it at all because of the design. The knife is too thick in that area to be able to get the right angle on it.

This is one of those knives that is so near perfection you can taste it, but still falls short. Before I go into what I'd like to see with this knife in future designs or possibly sprint runs, I'll explain its current positives. first and foremost is the ergonomics. This is one comfortable knife to hold, I can get all four fingers on, and it fits right in. I wish it was just a tad bit thicker, but the slim design has its positive features as well, such as in the pocket. So I'll take the good with the bad and give the ergos a 10. Next on the positive list, is the blade. Its a nice shape with a good belly and a great tip, full flat grind too. The jumping is nice and actually causes your thumb to stick into it, and the blade can get razor sharp with the aus-8 steel. No its not the best steel in the world, but its definitely not bad and at a $28 tag I'll take it. Next positives are the features such as clip placement, tip up or down either side. Decent clip too, but nothing too special. It has a low profile out of the pocket when tip down, when the clip is tip up the knife does show a little bit more though. All of this makes for a great value knife, it has enough things right with no major downfalls at a good price. Now for the improvements it could use. The biggest being the scales. They are made of a FRN, and they just feel cheap. They have good grip and were cut properly, but they are just made from cheap FRN. I feel if they used G10 instead, maybe raised the price $5 or whatever to compensate, it would really increase the value, quality, and overall feel of the knife. I'm contemplating getting custom scales made for this knife, but I'm still not sure if it'll be worth the cost and effort, since its still very good as is.

The Gerber Order is the cheapest of three new pocket knives from Gerber this year, and for the price you are getting a good quality USA made knife. The ergos, blade material, and price are all great for around $35. My complaint is that there is not the option to buy a plain edge at this time. I do not prefer serrations, and that holds this knife back from being an amazing knife. Other then that it is a great design.

Comments:

Anaconda (the 7B model) has been on my list for quite some time but it took me a while to slowly get used to bigger knives (SRK --> Phoneniks 2 --> Force --> Buck Thug) and I finally made the decision to get this absolutely cool looking knife.
These days I'm so used to micarta handle that it feels right on weird to grab some plastic/nylon/whatever/leathery handle. Micarta stays put whether it's submerged, slippery with oils or dry. No rough spots on the handle, no blistering after two hours of furious hacking through bushes and cutting down to sizes some thicker wood. My only tiny complaint is the fore lanyard holes' squarish form as it tends to press against the DIP-joist of your thumb..a more rounded solution would have cured that.
The full-tang blade is the thickest I own and you can immediately notice that in the weight of the knife. In normal (and in quite abnormal) situations it is indestructible barring some unforseen error on the production line.
Thick blade means more hacking power...a lot more than with the almost identical looking/size Buck Thug. And unlike with Thug, you dont' get the same amount of 'shock feedback' when you are cutting down hard wood.
Only little (font size 6 =) ) question mark are the two notches on the spine. Some people complain about the notches (especially deeper ones) on the back of the blade because these notches supposedly weakens the blade (snaps off). Anaconda 7B has such a thick blade, I seriously doubt I will break it unless I'm trying to pry a freight train off its tracks.
The sheath is just what I want of a sheath. Double secured, has an extra pocket for small items like firestarter and a file/honing stone.
For the serious outdoors person, this is one of the best knives there is. Both thumbs up! =)

One of my buddies gave me a CRKT M16 03Z and it turned out to be the best all around knife I ever owned. I had it for 7 years and it came up missing so I purchased another without the serrations and I never leave the house without it! Very good knife to cut, stab, slice most anything. Also is very easy to sharpen to a razor sharp perfection! I see it all the time where people buy the high dollar knives like Spyderco or Zero Tolerance and this knife will do anything a high-end knife will do. The shape and ease of opening is flawless! Best all around knife ever!

LOCK - PROS: Super strong. Opens and closes well with practice. Closing is difficult for people with weaker hands(my girlfriend finds closing it to be unpleasant). Very solid lockup, feels like a fixed blade. Thumb studs are easily accessible from either side. CONS: After aggressively snapping open the blade several times the pivot screw will begin to incrementally loosen and the knife eventually develops blade wobble and needs to be re-tightened. A little superglue on the threads will probably fix this.

HANDLE - PROS: Nice swell for the palm, flared at the butt, thumb scoop for those who like hard stabs with reverse grip, and the bolster has a nice deep indention to keep the hand from slipping up onto the blade. Works excellent in forward or reverse grip. Holes in the handle assist in transitions from forward to reverse grip. CONS: The traction of the handle material, while adequately positive, does not provide grip that is comparable to the Recon 1 and other Cold Steel G10 scaled knives. The shape of the handle works well for every reasonable grip I can think of, save for reverse grip with blade towards the user's body, in this grip the handle is not comfortable.

BLADE - 4", not really great for self defense, but my state's knife laws suck. In a humid climate the blade begins to develop rust, but with only little oiling/care this shouldn't be a serious issue.
PROS: Shaving sharp, of course, it's Cold Steel. Blade optimized for thrusting, with a good sharp point and impressive width. CONS: Not great for food prep and some EDC tasks. Saber ground blade, while strong, is not the best precision slicer. This is not the knife I would choose for food prep. Blade does not have as much belly as other more EDC oriented folders like the Voyager Clip.

Overall, a wonderful tool for self defense, that functions for EDC tasks in a pinch.

Came shaving sharp, as all my other Cold Steel blades.
I have subjected this knife to moderate use, it has been used in lieu of a larger blade or machete to cut down saplings and cut branches. It did so in spite of its feather-light weight, and without any damage to the blade or point whatsoever, and retained excellent sharpness.
The build quality is more than I can ask for for the ridiculously low price.
The handle is more comfortable in some positions than others. I have been spoiled by more ergonomic handles. That being said, it functions adequately and provides ample traction.

This Buck Nighthawk 650 is the longer version of the two Nighthawks. This was designed between both Buck and Tops knife companies. This knife came razor sharp with an excellent black coating to eliminate glare. The handle has a great rubbery feel that prevents my hand from slipping, even when wet. The blade is longer than 6 inches (6.5"?) and it is a very thick blade. It even has an opening in the blade so you can operate and oxygen tank valve. This is a very good knife that seems to be under-rated by most websites. If you held it in your hand, you would see the value it offers. Holds an edge very well, too!
