this fine offering from spyderco is very small but, cuts like a big knife and has great edge retention for such a short blade. the in hand ergonomis are outstanding and the overall value/price ratio is excellent. it is manufactured in maniago, italy and is well put together. i carried it for over a month and found it to handle light duty tasks as well as heavy duty cutting. you may want to add a few drops of thread locker to the pivot and make sure you don't over tighten the pivot as you may strip out the hole for the pivot pin.

This is one tough bushcrafter. The Tops Knives BOB is a 3/16 inch thick scandi ground blade. Is a little on the heavy side for bushcrafting use and with the cutting edge it offers of 4.3 inches, but it is going to take a lot more hard use then your $15 Mora. Great ergonomics, and it slices like a dream. When you put it up next too its competitors it can hold its own and stands out from the crowd. I would recommend this hard use bushcrafter!

I have been carrying a Gerber Paraframe regularly for approximately two years now. It is not a great knife but I believe it is a good knife at this price point. It has held up very well and is fairly easy to touch up and keep sharp enough for my primary use which is primary light utility use such as opening packages and cutting paracord. It rides in my pocket well and I've never had a problem with mine.

Received a Schrade folder for Christmas 2013. Nice knife but within one week the anodized finish on part of the handle had started to rub off in select spots.

Like a fool, I purchased another Schrade Extreme Survival model SC60BS at a gun show today. Within 4 hours of ownership the finish on this one had started to rub off as well! The finish rubbing off once could have been a fluke; having it happen twice means it's crap in my view. My suggestion: Don't buy a Schrade!

I bought this knife at Cabela's 8 years ago and after losing it and finding it again 3 times over the years, this knife keeps going. It has become a part of me that I use daily. It's very durable, light, holds a great edge, and has never failed me. Thank you Benchmade for keeping it American and keeping quality before quantity.

1st impressions, it's a beautiful knife. Love the feel, light but very sturdy. Out of the box sharp, shaved my arm hair like a hot knife through butter.

On the negative side, the blade doesn't hold it's edge as well as some other harder steels. That being said, it's pretty easy to re-sharpen.

The SOG Kiku is a knife that could be a home run, but strikes-out with the follow through. The design of the knife is really nice and stands out from the crowd. It has micarta handle scales that are unique. The problem is the price for the 3.5in at $75 and the VERY thin liners that are uncomfortable in you hand and make the liner lock VERY thin. All in all a great idea and design, but bad follow through.

Dude, I was about to not buy this knife because of your rating of it. Then I saw your grammar and spelling and realized I shouldn't take your review seriously.

In short...Best EDC ever in my opinion. Lightweight...but only feels strong and well built. Perfect ergonomics, love the blade shape and full flat grind. P.S. the compression lock makes it the most fun knife to flick open/closed that I've used. I've paid a little less for knives that aren't half this good. Unless you need a blade that is 3 inches or less I couldn't recommend a better knife!!

This is NOT a good EDC blade, it is a pocket pig. It is ugly, very heavy, and unergonomic in a handles. I really regret to say it, but this is such a let down. Even at the good price of $22 the Swerve is like putting a little brick in your pocket. Look some where else for a cheap EDC knife.

This is an excellent hunting knife with outdoor and bush craft capabilities. Can easily serve as a back up knife in survival situations and all sorts off outdoor use. The build is just solid, with a choice of sturdy materials, therefore a dependable companion. Handle ergonomics is great tho some might miss some kind of finger guard . this is no real issue in game processing and meat cutting but can be a little concerning in bushcraft.
As far as overall 'performance' goes , this can only be determined by your needs and how well it meets them.

Comment by user   11/28/2017
the handle is NOT thermorun. It's Kraton (like on Cold Steel knives). People confuse both but they're not the same. Thermorun is harder while kraton is a little bit softer. The difference is noticeable. Kraton will be more grippy when wet.

Comment by   12/08/2014
I don't have this knife but I am justified on commenting on this question, as I collect Fallkniven's. My review is subjective as my favourite Fallkniven is the F1. The handle of H1 is thermorun. A hard, but tacky feeling polymer substance. It is anti conductive, solvent, heat (to a point)

Comment by Greg   01/13/2014
How does the handle grip in wet conditions?

I received the Schrade SCHF14 Survival Fixed Blade to test out. I have a Schrade Golden Spike that I have had for around 27 years which was made by the original Schrade company, they are now being made by Taylor Brands. Not sure if it was just a name change or what but this new knife is very nice.

The knife was very sharp right out of the box but I was able to really polish up a nice edge on it with no problem. It comes with a thermoplastic/kydex sheath which is nice and holds the knife securely, it also has different carry options by changing the angle of the belt loop on the sheath. I'm more partial to leather sheaths for my knives so I made a leather sheath for this one.
The grip seemed a little sketchy to me at first when I saw a picture but I found it to be very comfortable in my hand. The knife is well built and looks like it will last a very long time.

This blade is nearly perfect, from the fit and finish, to the design of the blade, to the CPM-3V steel this knife is so much fun to use and hold. The edge retention and toughness of the steel is insane!! My only words of caution would be that the kydex sheath, while very nice, rides high on the hip and the CPM-3V steel will take a while to get an edge back on it once it does finally dull. You have to be very serious about your fixed blades and use them regularly to justify the price of owning this knife. The All in all a fantastic blade!
