I've had this knife for about one and a half year, and simply loved it. 8Cr13MoV takes a fine edge and holds it fairly well, the blade shape is very good, but the thing i loved the most is the ergonomics, fits better in my hand then any other knife i had.
Fit and finish is better than on my USA made Native I.
The only thing i regret is buying the aluminium handled version (g10 version was out of stock when i bought it)altough the shape and texture compansates for the slipperines, iz makes the knife heavy for its size.

Love this knife. It is just the right size for everyday carry. I bought the one with S30V steel and is has not been sharpened yet. I use for opening boxes daily and other things around the house on the weekends. I have had a Gerber and had problems with it opening in my pocket. This one has a lock to prevent that but I have never needed it. It also opens very fast and smooth. This simply just a very good knife and obviously made for everyday carry. Just buy it and don't look back.

Hi. A very thick full tang blade. Comes with a high quality leather sheath. The handle is quality riveted hardwood but is a little chunky and thick. The grind on the edge is very similar to some axe type edges. A very heavy duty and all round quality Item. Will be an absolute pain to sharpen as there is a hell of a lot of blade to remove for a fine edge. This tool is made for hacking not carving. The high carbon high quality tool steel will need a little care as in an oily wipe after use. But then again it will last for a lifetimes service.

I was looking at neck knives for a while as a lightweight alternative to folders. I purchased a TOPS Sneaky Pete and was impressed with it enough that I looked into more neck knives. The minimalist, at first glance, looked odd, but once I picked it up the ergonomics of the knife were amazing. The way this knife fits in your fingers as opposed to the hand is genius for a knife this size. The jimping allows for outstanding control for small cutting tasks.
The biggest dilemma I had was which blade style to get as they all seem to have a specific task. The tanto blade, the warncliffe and the mini Bowie. I couldn't decide so I bought them all. I like the tanto for everyday box cutting . I used the warncliffe to process a few squirrels and fish and the Bowie is great for skinning. Of the three, my opinion is the warncliffe is the easiest to sharpen with the straight blade style.
The steel is good and the edge retention is also good. Over a weekend of processing game and a bit of whittling and wood carving, they all needed a touch up on my Spyderco Sharpmaker. They came back to razor sharp in no time.
The sheaths all have excellent retention without any rattle. The Bowie and the tanto sheaths are the same. The are moulded for the tanto blade but are interchangeable. The warncliffe sheath came with a break away snap in the lanyard which I really like.
All in all, the light weight and superior ergonomics make this an outstanding design......if you can just pick one.

Comments:

The Bushman is my first foray in knives, and in Coldsteel products. I bought mine back in 2010, and I was rather did not enjoy it as much as I can't sharpen any knife yet. This knife dulls pretty quick!

But as a concept, I do appreciate how's the Bushman is made, Cold steel's mission behind this product. I think of it as a great value knife, suited to brought as back up knives, as a outdoor ("survival") knife (hollow handles, versatility to be used as spear or to store survival items), dulls rather easy but is tough and sharpens easily too, and takes a sharp edge. The sheath is rather cheap, but functions very well. The handle is slippery, but a simple mod can improve this.

The only thing that would make me like this knife better is, I wish Cold steel made this knife using more proper carbon steel that could hold the edge longer.

My mom said she wants a big knife she can cut an apple in half with... and can be put inside her purse... (she works in a remote tropical forest) And I bought the Voyager XL in plainedge, clip point.

I find it is a great value of a knife, this big! stonewashed blade, tri-ad lock, very, VERY SHARP! I do like the AUS-8 for it's properties.

For a knife this big, it amaze me that it didn't that hard to open or close (two handed). another plus for my mom...
But, with a knife this big, precautions shall be made, as the blade is quite heavy, and the spring tension from the backlock can act as a guillotine. I cut myself already.

Spyderco Delica 4 Emerson Opener

-Price Paid: $55.00
-Used for Every Day Carry
-Owned for 3 months

Comments:

I have a thing for the Delica, being it the 4th gen now I do see it as a great folder with EDC concept in mind. I like the thinness, it is a great slicer, the ambidexterous pocket clip, VG10 steel which I like because it is easy to sharpen, and fairly held it edge.

I am collecting Delicas, and pretty curious about the Emerson opener. Thats why I bought this knife.

While it finally answer my curiosity for the Emerson opener: I find myself disliking this wave feature. Sure, it is fun to play with, but I am still quicker opening my knife without the wave. when taking it out my pocket, I have to be very cautious. and most of the time, I prefer not to open it using the wave.

But this knife, still a Delica and I am happy to put it in my collection.

This is the perfect EDC knife. I've been "into" knives this past year or so and found that all my folders were large, and though I don't mind carrying these large folders, I thought I'd look for a compact EDC style blade. Of course the mini Grip jumps to mind as it is a very popular higher end EDC that gets lots of accolades. Yet , I've been a bigger Spyderco fan than Benchmade and still nothing Spyderco had in this size appealed to me so I thought I'd try this Benchmade.
My model is the pricier limited edition M4 steel model with grey cericote blade. I live on the coast but I really don't have problems with non SS knives and everything I've read says that M4 has an extremely good balance of strenghts, beiing strong and great at keeping an edge. It also isn't that difficult to sharpen which I had to do as the factory edge wasn't that sharp nor was the bevel even. The overall build is really good with perfect centring and the handle design is very well thought out with its nested liners. I don't mind the glass filled nylon scales either, they feel quite durable. The Axis lock was another selling point as I do not have any knives with it and I've read many positive reviews on it and it deserves those reviews. Its simple and fun to use. The blade itself is very functional. The shape lends itself to being a great EDC with a nice point and belly along with surpriseng cutting ability. This thing flies through cardboard. I was woried seeing the saber grind that it would be an issue but its probably the best cutting knife I own and that is ultimately a knifes purpose. Very pleased.

For every day carry you can't beat this little knife when you just need a blade to cut something. It's light weight in your pocket and when you reach in to pull it out it doesn't matter which end comes out first as your going to get either a "pen" or a "spear" blade that are basically the same. There's no decisions to be made... It's quick, easy and it just works. Sometimes Less is More when it comes to a tool that you use on a daily basis.
