My knife was bought in 2003 says made in USA. Not sure if current models are stamped the same. The blade is one of my go to blades for the woods. It chops better than some blades costing 3 times as much. It has a sweet spot. My knife back then came with a really nice Bladetech sheath. If your a big survival blade fan like me

this blade is a must have

Don't listen to the "Nike" guy that tried to use this knife as a gardening tool. Getting disapointed with this knife because it dosen't cut tree's well is like being mad at a fork because it sucks for eating soup. Use garden tools for out in the yard and weapons for self defence.

This is a Defensive knife for self protection. I am a Police Officer and have carried one of these for about a year as a backup for my service pistol and overall its a good knife.

AUS8 isn't anything special but its a decent steel that sharpens back easy enough. The knife has a built in "wave" feature that allows very rapid deployment from the pocket.
The handle could be a little more ergonomic but it was styled to look like an old switchblade. It does look pretty nasty. Holding this knife leaves no doubt that it would do some nasty damage.

If you want a EDC for everyday chores or opening boxes and such look for another knife. If you want a knife for protection or as a backup weapon for a gun consider this knife. I would reccomend that you check out the knife in person because the handle style isn't for everyone.

Gentlemen, tasteful disagreement is one thing, but these comments is starting to detract from the value here. As such, I'm no longer going to approve comments in this exchange unless they are directly related to the review of the knife. No more personal attacks. Thank you.

Don't call me "cowboy" you don't know me and as such you don't get to call me by any kind of nickname....And I AM a Police Officer. Atlanta Police Department. Look it up.Now I cannot help it if you missused your knife... You where using the wrong tool for a job. Secondly are you even sure you got a real Cold Steel knife? There are many counterfit knifes go to their website and you can see some examples. If not maybe you just got a lemon. But I own 5 different Cold Steel knives including this one, all of them have been tough and preformed well.

Cowboy, do you know what kind of plant is tree of heaven - this Mr. Officer is a tree famous with it's very soft timber. Repeat, I make only one cut, only one, with this "solid" knife and the result - damage folder. You claim you are policeman. I don't know cowboy - you are specialist, but i will never go into fight with such kind of blade or depend on it for "self protection". By the way - if you are so sure in your Ti-lite, in Cold Steel site you can watch hard uses test of the knife - repeat it

I had one of these for a while. Bought it at REI for around $30 to 35. Great pocket knife, small enough to carry everywhere. All stainless steel, can be opened and closed with one hand, though closing it one-handed is a bit of a trick. It comes with a decent edge, sharp but nothing special, out of the box, and can be re-sharpened fairly easily. It is a very small knife, which limits it some, but inside those limits it's a great little tool. If I hadn't lost mine, it would be in my pocket right now. The biggest annoyance I ever had with it is that there's no lanyard hole, even though it would be perfect to put on a lanyard or keychain.

This knife brings up some mixed feelings. The design is good and the knife locks up solid. It is lightweight and easy to use. However the steel used is AUS4 a low quailty steel. The steel is very soft and will not retain an edge well. It also will rust very easy. I had this in my pocket during a rain storm. Later that night I saw rust spots forming on the blade and liners.

So while it dulls quickly and no real resistants to rusting, the upside is that it sharpens back easy and will get very sharp.

I love my RAT-3. 3.5" powder coated blade with a 4 inch micarta handle. Flat grind, which improves blade strenght. Made of 1095 steel, it's not especially rust proff, but a quick hit of WD-40 on the blade edge is a good method of protection. The micarta slab handle is a both durable and weather resistant. I use mine as a compliment to my ESEE Junglas on backpacking trips as a small skinner/carver, and it has yet to fail me. The reason I gave it a 9 in build quality is the fact that the powder coat on the blade gets rubbed off a little to easily. Nice blade for the price. Mine is serrated, so I think that added about 3 dollars on Knifecenter. The serrations are great and take up very little of the blade, but still enough to be usfull when it comes to cutting flexible materials. Again, great knife for the money.

The gerber Evo is a good low price EDC knife. Although the materials arent that of a $60 folder, they are a good value for the price. THe handle is made of I believe alminum, which keeps the weight down significantly. THe deep-cary clip is perfect for a descreat EDC purpose. The fingerguard/quick deployment option is a very cool feature on the knife. It is made of 440 titanium nitride coated steel, so not a blade well substituted for tools (i.e. using it as a screwdriver, prybar for heavy objects, hammer). My blade has gone through some wear and tear, but the coating is still on the blade and handle. My blade came out of the box sharp, and even though 440 is not known for holding an excelent edge, it sharpens well, so its not a huge problem. Weight is fine, and the costruction of mine seemed to be up to par with all other $35 knives. This is not a workhorse knife, but its a perfect EDC knife for most anyone's needs.

This Trio 373 BRS-B knife is a lesser quality Buck knife. It resembles the Cadet 303 but don't be fooled. It's not the same knife. This model is made in China. The blade alloy is not the same. The construction is not the same. I had a 303 for 25 years and it served me well. I lost it. I found this knife online at about half the cost. The first time I used it to cut through a medium sized zip tie, the sheepsfoot blade bent and the knife wouldn't close. Buck did replace it, but it took six weeks to get the job done. Quality and service leaves much to be desired.

The quality of this knife is excellent. It is extremly sharp out of the box. It is obvious that this is a hand made knife, not from a cookie cutter mold. The ergonomics of the handle and blade are very nice. I have only used it to cut up and apple and some celery in the kitchen. I'll field test this weekend. The handle is not as thick as my TOPS handles, which I really like for chopping, but it's longer and provides a good grip. The blade finish is beautiful, the powder coating is clean. The jimping on the blade and handle is very well done and useful for various grips. The kydex sheath hold the blade tight, it will not fall from the sheath. More to come post field testing.......

Some time has passed and I have since used the Crusader for more than cutting up fruit and vegtables. By the way, I have also purchased the Grizzly. Followed your lead on that. I am in Southern Marlyand and the weather is warming up enough for freshwater pond fishing. I have used the Crusader for clearing brush and small trees (2 inches diameter) to create a fishing spot. I was actually impressed with how well and how quick I was able to chop down the small trees and cut away the brush. On to the fishing, I caught 2 pike one 24 inches and a second 27 inches. Caught other fish, but threw'em back. I used the Crusader to fillet the pike and even after chopping and cutting small trees and brush the knife was incredibly sharp and filleted the fish with unbelievable ease. I was even able to use it for removing the Y bones in the pike which is fine work. I am totally sold on SCAR Blades. I especially like the fact that the Crusader is light and very comfortable to carry on your belt all day long, but perform as well as the heavier knives, and seems to be better for the intricate cutting job.

All prior comments have described this knife very well, so I'm only going to provide a review of knife use. I have tested cutting through a car seat belt stap of a Ford 150 and it slices it staight through in about 3 seconds. I have filleted 15 yellow perch, one after the other and the little knife worked suprisingly well. I don't my EDC for opening boxes or mail as I feel this is not the intended use. I have also used this knife for stipping CAT6 cable, due to the erognomics and handling, it is delicate enough to strip the smaller wires inside. The reason I like this blade so much is because it is useful for just about everything.

I really like the knife. One criticism only... It is challenging to open. There is something gritty in the pivot area that makes a tickly sound when the knife is being popped. In all other areas the knife is all I expected. You can see more useful reviews here: Spyderco Caly 3 Folder

I bought this knife primarily because it represented good value. I wanted to see how this knife compared to my American made Kershaw knives. The Nerve is made in China. That being said I have to say that I am impressed with this knife, especially considering it only cost me 20 bucks new. The knife was perfectly sharp out of the package and has maintained a good edge after cutting several different materials over several weeks. The cnc machined G10 handle provides good grip and handling. Opening the knife is smooth and effortless any the blade locks up nicely with no play. Adjusting the pivot will speed up deployment if necessary. The flat thumb stud takes a little getting used to but does allow left and right hand deployment as well as acting as a thumb rest. The knife ships with the pocket clip in the tip down position. It is possible to switch the clip to tip up position however this is where my biggest complaint lies. In this position the clip sits at an angle across the handle. This decreases the effectiveness of the clip and does not allow the knife to seat as well in a pocket. The blade steel is a little lower quality than many other Kershaw knives and this shows up in the blades corrosion resistance. Overall for the price of this knife it has slot going for it. I recommended this knife to those looking for Kershaw quality at a lower price.

First of all STOP SAYING THIS IS AN "ARC" LOCK!!!
This knife does NOT have the SOG "ARC" lock. It actually has a piston type lock. I have a SOG Spec Elite that has a true ARC lock and believe me there is a difference.

Ok rant over.
I am a firefighter/emt so I carry need a good solid knife that will hold up to lots of use and also won't cost an arm and a leg to replace if something happens to it. This kife has held up very well and is one of the best values for an EDC around.

Features worth mentioning are the excellent pocket clip. I have the blackened titanium nitride finnished blade and the clip is near invisible against my dark navy blue nomex duty pants. The clip allows the blade to carry vary low in the pocket and retains the knife well.
The spring assisted opening deploys the knife quickly and the blade locks up solidly agaings the lock. If blade wobble/play develops you can tighten the torqe screw to adjust it.
This knife is very light. People are often surprised with its weight when I hand it to them.
This is a lot of knife for the money. And I would reccomend it to anyone that needs a sold EDC knife.

I do have one complaint. And its the handle. Grips are very subjective but this one just plain sucks in my opinion. The cutout for the middle finger is smaller in with than the space for the index finger and the ring finger. This makes griping the knife feel very unnatural and kinda uncomfortable. When I use the knife I find myself wanting to grip back behind the finger choil and place my index finger where the middle finger was intended to go.

So overall solid knife with decent steel (aus-8) with medeocre ergo's. But for the price a very good buy.
