the overall shape, length, thickness, etc.. are all great. The only negative is the handle is lacking palm swell. Other than that, this is an outstanding knife designed for the outdoors. It's not a tactical knife. it wasn't designed to be.

The ESEE 6 is at the top of my list for a go to Survival/Tactical Knife. It can handle almost anything you can throw at it.
GOOD- the sheath is well designed, the 1095 steel has a great heat treatment, the ergos are good, and the blade design is good for stabbing, carving, or batoning and the price is good at around $120.
BAD- the sheath is much better then most on the market, but it is a molded plastic, not kydex like the ESEE 5 or Laser Strikes sheath. The tip is a little thinner then the RAT7.

This is a great knife, sharp, sharp, sharp out of the box and the flat grind only takes a few passes on a stone to bring it back. I treated mine with marine grade "Tuff Cloth" and have not had any rust issues even in a very wet tactical environment. My biggest complaint was with the flat micarta scales which did not feel very ergonomic to me, I replaced them with some TKC G-10 scales and that greatly improved the comfort level, filling the hand nicely with out the hot spots. Highly recommend this knife, large but not unwieldy.

An excellent knife for extreme duty. Strong steel that satys sharp for a looong time even after chopping through oak branches to make a fire. The only drawbacks are 1) 1095 steel is not stainless (Duh!) 2)The micarta scales are hard and can get uncomfortable during extreme chopping. This is true for all micarta scales I have used. overall 9/10.
